WELCOME AT PARIS CONFERENCE FOR THE IDEA OF A WEB-BASED CAREERS CAFÉ

Professor Bill Bingham made some significant remarks during his speech to the International Association for Educational and Vocational Guidance in Paris last Autumn. The speech was about the work and history of the Association. In conclusion he said that a web-based career cafe can provide...

"...at least two services of interest to IAEVG: publishing scholarly articles and collecting ideas from practitioners world-wide... It seems reasonable to expect that joint efforts of this type would probably be less costly to IAEVG than trying to serve the same ends independently.

"What looms on the horizon, it appears, is a serious dilemma. To implement what is being recommended will require a substantial IAEVG investment. To do so would be very demanding and should not proceed without thorough deliberation and careful planning. On the other hand, if actions similar to these are not taken, I fear the future of IAEVG will not live up to the promise of its past. I trust that the Board of Directors, through their most courageous and creative imaginings will find useful avenues to truly productive international collaboration."

Bill Bingham is a long-standing member of IAEVG, a former executive and much respected world-wide

For reason you will understand Bill could not be in Paris, his speech was read by Professor José Ferreira Marques. But the events of September 11th make it all-the-more urgent that we find new and effective ways of communicating our concerns for world-wide careers engagement.
