learning for living - key concepts
www.hihohiho.com/activeprojects/LfL/KPCmaterial.pdf
This handout, which includes links to important background material, introduces the learning-for-living (L4L) project. It draws on the other-than-teaching life of widely-experienced teachers. It shows how that experience can be portrayed in a way that engages more of what they have to offer their students. It also shows how students can use the same methods to set down accounts of their own unfolding experience.
This handout pays particular attention to the importance of turning-points in people's lives. And it shows how the use of storyboarding can be linked to a network of help which sets out career learning as a horizon-expanding journey. It also shows ways in which students can use what they learn, by transforming it into an action plan which they rehearse and refine for themselves.
The handout is useful to research & development people, to people providing academic support and professional training for teachers, and to consultancy and support people in all aspects of learning for personal-and-social development.
